Bethany Cordero is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist working in steel, bronze, clay, and textiles. Her sculptural practice explores the malleability of identity through the shifting complexities of the self, treating process-driven material inquiry as a reflection of the fluid and continually evolving condition of becoming.
Her work has been exhibited at institutions and galleries across Chicago and beyond, including the Hyde Park Art Center, Fine Arts Building, Elmhurst Art Museum, Woman Made Gallery, Epiphany Center for the Arts, Beverly Art Center, the Midland Building, Arc Gallery and File Review, among others. She has collaborated with Surface Design Association on publications and international community programming, and has served as a grant panelist for the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE).
A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a focus in Sculpture and Fiber and Material Studies, she has trained at the Oxbow School of Art in Saugatuck, MI, and is an alumna of the Hyde Park Art Center’s Bridge and Center programs. She has been named an Artist to Watch by Comfort Station and was recently selected as a 2026-2028 Resident with the Chicago Artists Coalition. This summer, she will serve on a panel for the National Endowment for the Arts and open her first solo exhibition at Ignition Project Space.
