Chicago Artists Coalition Joins the #ILGive and #GivingTuesday Movements with Matching Grant from The Coleman Foundation

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Chicago, IL - The Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. The Chicago Artists Coalition provides education and support to emerging artists, curators, educators and creative thinkers who make Chicago culturally vibrant. Occurring this year on December 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

The Chicago Artists Coalition joined the #GivingTuesday movement when its funder The Coleman Foundation invited participation in a #ILGive on #GivingTuesday matching grant opportunity. CAC is eligible for a grant of up to $15,000 from Coleman, matching new donations or increased donations from previous donors. Therefore, donors who have given in the past year will have the incremental increase of their current donation matched. Donors who are giving for the first time will have their entire donation matched in full. This initiative will significantly impact CAC’s ability to meet its mission of building a sustainable marketplace for artists and creatives in the region.

About Chicago Artists Coalition
CAC is an artist service organization dedicated to empowering artists by providing professional resources, programming and advocacy to build a sustainable arts marketplace. Founded in 1974 by a group of local artists committed to securing a better future for Chicago’s artistic community, the organization’s early coalition-building and advocacy efforts provided the foundation for our city’s bustling artistic community.  Today, CAC offers exhibition opportunities and work-space residencies for artists (BOLT Residency & HATCH Projects), a unique hybrid of professional development and educational resources (FIELD/WORK and LAUNCH), a robust online network (Chicago Artists Resource - CAR), and public programs that bridge artists and the communities in which they live and work (Collectors Circle, The Annual, Special Projects).  CAC serves as a primary connector and resource for thousands of artists, arts organizations, and a diverse arts public.
